Ireland’s architectural heritage is set to benefit from over €3.5 million in funding for the repair and protection of 28 historic structures nationwide. Awarded under the this year's Historic Structures Fund (HSF), this investment will help return many of our landmark buildings to their former glory while supporting the work of traditional craftspeople.

The 28 projects receiving funding in this announcement span the country, benefiting both urban and rural communities. Recipients include:

  • St. Anne’s Church, Shandon, Cork City – €250,000 for essential repairs to its iconic four-faced clock tower.
  • Athlone Town Centre – €68,780 for the restoration of two properties on Church Street and Lloyd’s Lane, supporting urban renewal.
  • Ballast House, Crescent Quay, Co. Wexford – €130,000 for repairs to facilitate commercial reuse.

The Historic Structures Fund (HSF) was established to help with the cost of for large-scale conservation works on historic structures. It's a match-funding scheme, which means recipients must be able to supply between 20% - 50% of the funding to cover the costs of the project.
