Working together and in collaboration with national agencies, local authorities deliver a range of services and initiatives.

  • National Public Lighting Energy Efficiency Project

    Local authorities are working together to upgrade public lights to modern LED technology, saving on energy costs and reducing CO2 emissions.

  • Town Centre First

    Town Centre First aims to regenerate towns across Ireland, creating town centres that are viable, vibrant, and attractive locations for people to live, work and visit.

  • Creative Communities

    Through the Creative Communities initiative local authorities are fostering creative collaboration across the arts, heritage, libraries, enterprise, and communities. 

  • Sláintecare Healthy Communities

    Sláintecare Healthy Communities is a partnership between local authorities, the HSE and the Department of Health to provide increased health and wellbeing services in 19 community areas across Ireland. 

  • Local Authorities Waters Programme

    The Local Authorities Waters Programme works to achieve good or high water quality in our rivers, lakes, transitional and coastal waters, and groundwater.

  • Age Friendly Ireland

    Age Friendly Ireland assists with the expansion and development of age friendly programmes across Ireland. It’s been a local government shared service since 2017, hosted by Meath County Council.

  • Healthy Ireland

    Healthy Ireland aims to create an Irish society where everyone can enjoy physical and mental health, and where wellbeing is valued and supported at every level of society.

  • Local Authority Integration Teams

    Local Authority Integration Teams coordinate supports available for people who are applying for international protection, refugees, and others in similar situations.

  • Local Enterprise Offices

    The Local Enterprise Office is your local first stop shop for seeking information and support on starting or growing a business in Ireland.
