Tourism Events and Festivals Grant
Local authorities, together with Fáilte Ireland, may provide financial support to business and community groups to support events and festivals in culture, food, sports and activity based tourism to attract visitors.
Who can apply?
Community groups organising festivals in the local authority area can apply for funding under this grant scheme. Community and voluntary groups partnering with local businesses may also be able to apply.
How are applications assessed?
The assessment criteria may vary by local authority, but applicants can expect their application to be judged mainly on its contribution to tourism and the local economy. Its contribution to community and cultural life is also taken into account.
What can the funding be used for?
When the local authority announces a call for proposals under the scheme, they provide clear guidelines on how the grant can be used. Each local authority administers the scheme separately, and conditions attached to the grant may vary. Check with your local authority for more information.
How much is available?
The amount of grant available depends on the take-up of the scheme in the local authority area, and it may vary from year to year.
Typically the grant provides match funding. This means that the grant covers a portion of the costs, and the festival organisers cover the remainder of the costs from other sources.
How do I apply?
