Ten local authorities across the country and a regional assembly are partnering with AHEAD to offer paid, mentored work placements for graduates with disabilities as part of its Willing Able Mentoring (WAM) Programme.

Twenty positions will be available across sectors including Climate Action, Active Travel, Communications, Community Development, Customer Service, Operations, and Finance. The roles will be offered by 10 local authorities and a regional assembly, making this the largest number of annual placements since the partnership began.

Graduates with disabilities can apply for these positions through the Local Government Jobs portal. Applications are open until noon on Wednesday, 19 February.

This is the third consecutive year of collaboration between local authorities and AHEAD, an independent non-profit organisation focused on fostering inclusive environments in education, training, and employment. The WAM Programme connects graduates with disabilities to employment opportunities while supporting employers in developing inclusive workplaces.

This initiative highlights the local government sector's commitment to diversity and inclusion, aiming to reflect the vibrant communities it serves by providing equitable opportunities for all.

Check out the Local Government Jobs portal to see the participating local authorities and to apply.
